Steve it has been ages. What exactly have you been doing? No one cried. Well since my last blog and 30 days of marketing, the world of Father of 4 has gone a little… Busy! Yes… I kept my sales and marketing cycle going, just more sales! We are onto our fifth new website this year which is rocking our world as well as lovingly managing our clients through the wonderful world of digital marketing.
So, what brings you here today, well, I want to share some insights with you based on website observations, mainly from their data. It’s 2025 and it’s getting more difficult to stand out, to be seen and get those important leads. That’s because everyone has easy access to marketing tools to help them. This isn’t a guide to be able to stand out, it’s a guide on what you can do with your website to get people over the line.
1. Speak to your audience
Easy right. I mean it’s your audience, after all. But so many businesses fail to do this. Making dedicated pages for your audiences for PPC or SEO can lead to higher conversions. We’ve seen it, been there and done it. In fact, of the websites we have produced the ones thought through with the right audience in mind are the ones that are flying.
2. Let it breathe
Space is important, so important, we’ve seen a 50% increase in PPC leads from just making an audience page breathe a little. It’s natural to want to cram every point, every image and every USP on the screen. We are told people don’t read below the fold and yadda yadda yadda. Well, they do. But they have to be on a page relevant to them and they will get to the end of that page. So, give that text you spent hours crafting space to breathe, give sections of your pages and the whole screen some space. It doesn’t matter you have brand or white space above and below. It really doesn’t.
3. Sign up for GSC and GA4 but use the insights.
Every SEO guru on Facebook and TikTok will tell you a million and one things to optimise your website, but they all say this… Sign up for Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Bing webmaster tools. Not only does it give a signal you are serious about this it allows you to dictate to them.
4. Get people what they need quickly.
Obviously spending time on your audiences and making great content pages for them does this. But what if they hit your home page or a page you don’t expect them on? This is where site navigation and call to actions are crucial, think them through. All you will do is benefit from this and don’t forget you can ask them to fill in their details or buy something…
5. Speed it up, then speed it up some more
We live in a world where you can order something online and it appears the same day. The world has become impatient, sadly this reflects on you and your website. It can even affect your customer journey through your service, but back to websites… If your site is slow or worse… doesn’t work very well, you are going to lose that future customer.
6. Think about it from your customers point of view.
Have you ever ordered from your own website? Have you ever visited your own website with something other than your agenda in mind? Go back to your audiences, get in their psyche and relook at your website. You’ll be surprised what can hold that journey back.
7. Stop boring people.
Let’s go back a paragraph or two, the world is impatient. It certainly gets bored very easily. So don’t make contacting you difficult. Who fills out a long form these days? Who hates going page after page to find a damn number to call someone? Who wants to scroll through 12 products that are just a different colour to then have go to the next page. No one, repeat… NO ONE! Make it easy for people, quick, short and to the point, if they have to rethink, they are not going to contact you.
8. Believe it or not, fonts and colour matter.
Honestly, I have this argument on a regular basis, our stats show that a change of colour or font can change conversion rate. It’s crazy and blows our minds every time. Call to actions have to be a nice bold colour, harsh fonts put people off… In fact, out-of-date fonts put people off. It’s been a long way from days when Times New Roman and Arial dominated! In fact, do apps or software even default to them anymore? Keep up, it’s important!
There you go, eight things to think about. We, of course, help companies on a daily basis with all of this and can give some great examples of our work from concept to profit. Even if you don’t contact us, take this article, and do something with it. You will not regret it.
